Papyrus and Textiles

Textiles are often sensitive, fragile and either brittle or flimsy.

It is always best to frame them as soon as possible and this is particularly important for papyrus or any bark or natural canvas products as they dry out and become brittle.  Then you risk the textile cracking when stretched or mounted.

You can choose between preservation framing or fully conservation framing for these valuable art works.  See the Custom Framing page.

You also need to consider if you place mat board over the edge to make it neater and keep it stronger, or leave the raw edges visible.  This also depends on the style you want to achieve.

So match your framing to the style and origin of your textile.  It helps tell the story.
